The National Tennis Center
In 1999 and after enormous amount of discussions between CTF and the Cyprus Sports Organization, construction began of the National Tennis Centre in the grounds where it is today in Nicosia.
This was delivered in 2001 with a total cost of approximately €1,500,000 and it was inaugurated in the presence of the President of ITF and TE as well as sport Authorities of the Island.
At the time the four courts were constructed with a clay surface and the centre court was built within a 2000 spectator’s theatre giving for the first time in Cyprus the opportunity for tennis to become a truly spectators' sport.
Alongside the clay courts there was a cafeteria, small gym, offices, changing rooms and a large multipurpose room that is being used today for various activities of the CTF.
The courts were resurfaced in 2008 with acrylic “Plexipave” and are currently being used for the CTF support program that is in operation as well as most Davies Cup ties, national tournaments and other international events.
